ADULT: Wingspan up to 17mm.  A sweet little micro-moth with a creamy white to pale greyish ground colour that is smudged with slightly darker areas and contrasting blackish markings on the dorsum. There can also be subtle brown touches on the upper wing too. BEHAVIOUR:  Attracted to light in small numbers. The larvae feed internally on the catkins of birch (Betula) throughout the winter period. The larvae feed on Knapweed and Marsh Thistle. HABITAT: Primarily found in Birch woodland and parkland. FLIGHT PERIOD: On the wing during June and July.STATUS: Common throughout.
